Salomon brand all the way for hiking - Colorado to Sedona. Superior ankle support, no ball-of-foot stone bruising, great traction on an extended basis due to their choice of advanced materials for the actual treads - this stuff is tough! It does not wear out like lesser brands and retains the edges needed for traction on each underside lug shape. It takes about 2 seasons of daily over-rock/shard/sand/granite hiking to really begin to round off the lug edges. I ive in both areas so, I do hike daily while there.
