At 1x magnification, it is ideal for target acquisition with both eyes open, as well as quick shots at short distances. At 8x magnification, the V8 allows for shots at mid to longer range distances. The V8 1-8x24 features capped turrets and illuminated reticle #60. The distinctly innovative optics utilize exotic glass types, from SCHOTT glass, consisting of multiple FL (fluoride) and HT (high-transmission) lens elements. The optical system yields an impressively bright image, with a guaranteed light transmission value of 92%. The exterior lenses are then protected from environmental abuse with ZEISS LotuTec protective lens coatings. An immediate advantage of these designs is the extra-large and extra-friendly eye box that allows for faster target acquisition. The specialized optics are housed in a modern and compact 30 mm main tube design. The opto-mechanical system has been torture tested to endure over 800 cycles of impact testing at 1,000 g-force and final tested to withstand multiple impact cycles at 1,500 g-force. V8 scopes are waterproof to 13 feet for up to two hours, further confirming that ZEISS quality standards are achieved.
